Rogers Releases the HTC Jetstream LTE Tablet

So we all know that Bell and Rogers have both come out with LTE in their respective markets, mainly focusing on populous areas such as cities and its partial suburbs. For those of you who may not know, LTE means Long Term Evolution, basically instead of getting the "4G" speeds between 14.4Mbps to 42Mpbs, LTE is even faster, but comes with a price - an expensive data plan.

Both Rogers and Bell are offering their LTE data plan at promotional pricing of 10GB for $50 a month as opposed to their initial 1GB for $45 a month. If you do get an LTE device, you don't have to necessarily sign up for an LTE data plan, but you cannot make use of it so to speak. It all depends on the individual and what they believe their needs are. (or wants)

Personally I'd wait because LTE is a technology in its infancy in Canada, it will take a while to pick up, and for the carriers to start carrying LTE smart phones, unlike in the US, in which they already have a comprehensive selection to choose from.

Rogers has announced their first LTE tablet - The HTC Jetstream. It releases with Android 3.1, has a 10.1-inch display with a resolution of 1280×800, a dual core 1.5GHz processor, 1GB RAM, 7300 mAh battery, an 8 megapixel rear-facing camera plus a 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera for video calling and the HTC Sense UI. However the drawback is the price point, a whopping $799.99 out right (No contract) or $499.99 on a 3 year contract with Rogers. You can even accessorize your Jetstream with a scribe for $79.99.

Think you'd want to invest in one of these bad boys?

I would love to do a review on this device for you all, so, if you could please send me a Jetstream to test that would be great!  Haha, short of some major generosity and Rogers bothering to upgrade my area to LTE, we'll have to wait for people on the web to comment on their experiences!

Cheers,
Emperuman
