Motorola Mobility New Gadgets Revealed

After the conference led by Mr. Sanjay Jha, two devices have been announced by Motorola Mobility. The first being Motoactv and the last being the Droid RAZR.

Motoactv

So what are these devices and what do they do? Well according to Mr. Jha, the Motoactv is Motorola's very first music and fitness device combined together, sort of what you see in an iPod Nano with the benefit (depending on who you ask of course) of it running on Android. Yup there's some more Android love again! The Motoactv boasts a 600Mhz processor, running Android (version is yet to be known) and weighs at 35grams, has a built in Heart-rate monitor, Capacitive screen, can store up to 4,000 songs and has a built in FM radio.

There is no word of a Canadian release but for our neighbors to the south, the release date is stated as November 6th. Upon release two versions will be available, an 8GB for $249 and a 16GB for $299.

Next up, the Motorola Droid RAZR

Droid RAZR

The Motorola Droid RAZR is another addition to the lineup of Android devices to the current Motorola smart phones out there. Their current line up of dual core smart phones are the Motorola Atrix 1/2, and the Motorola XT860.

The Droid RAZR looks to be ultra thin, although the dimensions are there, until you get one in your hands, you really won't know if the form factor works. It looks like it knocked out the Samsung Galaxy S II in that respect.

The official specs of the Verizon version are:

- 4.3″ super AMOLED LED qHD display (Gorilla Glass)
- Kevlar wrapped (Military Grade huh?)
- 7.1mm thin
- Dual core 1.2GHz processor
- 1GB RAM
- 8 Megapixel rear camera 1080p HD camera.
- 720P HD front facing camera (confirmed?)
- 1800 mAh battery – 12.5hrs of talk time and 8.9 hours of video playback

Some of the features that the Motorola Droid RAZR will have are the SmartActions software, which basically manages your phone's battery life, and shutting off blue tooth when one returns home and it can be tweaked to user preferences. They've also launched out a new cloud feature (roll in the Apple law suits as usual) called MotoCast. Videos, photos, music, and documents can be streamed from your laptop/desktop to your phone. Don't forget to add the Government grade encryption for your phone.

Some accessories available with the phone are two variations of lapdocks, wireless keyboard options, HD docks, and Bluetooth headsets.

There's no official word of a release here in Canada or the specs for here (the one I mentioned are for Verizon and its LTE), but the phone will be sold on Rogers and they mention its "Coming Soon". So be sure to mark your calendar once the word spreads out on Rogers. A pre-order system might be in phase too once official word gets out here in Canada.

For the folks down in the US, one can expect to pre-order the phone under Verizon starting October 27th, with an official launch in November, and a $299 pricing on a 2 year contract.

Here's a "Hands - On" video by Engadget as well:

So once again, stay tuned for you Motorola fans out there.

Cheers,
